On Tuesday, President Alar Karis gave the awards to the young scientists in Kadriorg, Tallinn. Research Fellow in Orthopedics, Kaspar Tootsi received young scientist price.
Kaspar Tootsi researches innovative solutions for the treatment of orthopedic diseases, especially osteoarthritis. He has established that osteoarthritis does not only damage the joint, but the whole body systemically, and is now studying the effect of joint replacement on the whole body.
All three prizes were awarded to young outstanding researchers of the University of Tartu. Kuno Kasak and Dmytro Fishmani also received prices.
All awards are intended for researchers up to the age of 35 who are doing research at an Estonian or foreign research institution or university. The size of each award is 5,000 euros.
