On 3 October, the faculties’ electoral bodies elected new deans for the University of Tartu. The new Dean of the Faculty of Medicine is Külli Kingo who will assume office on 1 January 2024.

On 27 June, the global higher education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) launched its World University Rankings 2024, adopting a methodology that has undergone considerable change. The University of Tartu is ranked 358th and again tops the list of Estonian universities.

The Clinical Research Centre of the University of Tartu (UT) and Tartu University Hospital (TUH) is a competence centre for the clinical research in Estonia. The aim is to ensure high-level medical experimental studies and academic clinical as well pharmaceutical industry trials.
