Information to the university family during the war in Ukraine

University of Tartu graduation ceremonies take place from 12 to 20 June. Live streaming, recordings and photos of the ceremonies are available on UTTV.

On 13 May, the Ministry of Education and Research and the University of Tartu concluded an administrative contract for 2026–2028. It sets out the objectives of increasing student admissions in fields with higher labour demand, expanding the volume of doctoral research related to artificial intelligence, and supporting internationalisation and talent policy.

The University of Tartu museums, with their rich collections, offer discovery and excitement for visitors of all ages. During the spring holidays, you are welcome to visit the university’s museum, art museum, botanical garden, natural history museum and the library. For the first time, the University of Tartu has reached a position among the top 250.

The University of Tartu senate’s decision not to admit new students from Russia and Belarus this year to bachelor’s and master’s studies has caused much controversy. Some people see this as a particular discriminatory step against the young people of these countries, including opponents of the regime, depriving them of the opportunity to study in the free world.

On 7 March, the university family gathered in front of the main building with Ukrainian flags and other symbols and recorded the address of the University of Tartu senate to the Ukrainian people.
